Position Overview /
Ripple Coast is seeking a communications specialist who has strong writing, design and experience working with media. In addition to executing a wide range of marketing material and tactics to build awareness for the Society and its programs, the communications specialists also supports the Society’s development sector as required, including visiting and presenting to diverse local groups. This role is a temporary position with the Canada Summer Jobs program. The position takes place in Greater Vancouver, BC.

You’ll develop captivating stories across our print, video, and digital channels which demonstrates Ripple Coast’s commitment to providing meaningful experiences with British Columbia’s natural environment.
You’ll find innovative ways to engage Ripple Coast’s clients, media, and the public in conversations around the importance of nature in our lives
You’ll help inspire people to get outdoors this summer
Who you are:
You have 2+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or the equivalent
You have experience designing both print and digital marketing material (e.g. posters, flyers, brochures, online campaigns) and using design programs (i.e. Photoshop, In-Design).
You have a university degree or diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field
You’re able to work independently and problem-solve
You’ve worked in professional services organization and/or the architecture, engineering, and consulting industry (this is a nice-to-have, but not required)
You have experience in photography (an asset)

Funding for this position is provided through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. To be eligible, you must meet the following funding criteria:
Be between 15 - 30 years of age at the start of employment
A recent full-time student returning to full-time studies in Fall 2019
A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person under refugee protection
Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
Members of a visible minority or aboriginal heritage may be given priority

Job Type: Temporary
Anticipated hours: 30 hours per week
Total hours: 240 (8 weeks)
Salary: $13.85/ hour
Location: Greater Vancouver, BC (Vancouver and New Westminster area)

June 17, 2019 - Aug 9, 2019 (subject to slight change)
